Economics is a highly interdisciplinary field, and researchers in economics often collaborate with researchers from other fields to study complex economic phenomena. For example, economists may work with sociologists to study the economic impacts of social institutions, or with political scientists to analyze the role of economic policy in shaping political outcomes. So I don't think it's a separate discipline.
